The 4-H Dairy project offers year-round events and activities for youth. You don't need to own dairy animals or live on a farm to participate. Below are some of the opportunities. Check the events page for upcoming program dates.
Dairy Quiz Bowl - Divisions for Novice, Junior and Senior 4-H members. Local practices held during the winter months; regional and statewide competitions for members interested in showing off their knowledge.
Dairy Judging - Divisions for Novice, Junior and Senior 4-H members. Resources and online judging practice classes are available to help members get started. Local, regional and statewide competitions held through out the year.
Dairy Discovery Workshop held annually in late March -provides New York youth (ages 14-19 years old) with fun, hands-on science-oriented learning experiences on dairy production and management topics which feature the unique facilities, industry professionals, and staff of Cornell University.
Dairy Challenge …at the Great New York State Fair - An educational activity for 4-H youth to test their dairy management knowledge and skills, evaluate top quality animals, and receive experience in evaluation and decision making to further their success in the dairy industry.
Completing a Dairy Project - All dairy members are encouraged to complete a Dairy Project Record. To be eligible for year end awards you must be active in the dairy project and complete a Dairy Project Record or 4-H Portfolio and submit it to the 4-H office by end of the project year.
