Garlic 101 Workshop: From Planting to Harvest

  • Saturday, November 7, 2026, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

What if the best garlic you’ve ever tasted came from your own backyard? Fall is the one time of year to plant it. A handful of cloves in the soil this month will become a full harvest next July.

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension Allegany County for this hands-on workshop.

In this workshop you’ll learn:

  • The difference between hardneck and softneck garlic and which grows best here
  • How to choose healthy seed garlic
  • How to plant
  • What happens next: cutting scapes, harvesting, curing, and storing your crop
  • Common garlic issues

You’ll also:

  • Plant your own container of garlic to take home
  • Leave with a seed bulb and a step-by-step guide

No experience needed. Presented by Cristian Acosta, Ag. Educator, and the group of Master Gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension Allegany County.
