Curious about growing your gourmet mushrooms safely and successfully, without expensive equipment? Join us for a beginner-friendly online (Zoom) introductory class led by Don Gasiewicz, Horticulture/Natural Resource Program Manager from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wyoming County. This program is being offered to Allegany County participants as well.

In this class you will learn:

• How mushrooms grow (the basics made simple)
• Supplies and resources to get started successfully
• Mushroom varieties you can grow at home
• Indoor vs. outdoor cultivation (pros/cons and comparisons)
• Step-by-step overview for popular cultivated mushrooms:
• Shiitake, Lion’s Mane, Oyster, Wine Cap, Chestnut, Nameko
• Common pests and how to prevent problems
• Harvesting tips
• Marketing basics (for those exploring small sales)
• Future mushroom events in Western NY
