Karl Czymmek, Cornell PRODAIRY - “Soil Resilience: Back to the Basics” - Karl will review soil features, types of soil organic matter and the important role of soil conservation to maintain soil productivity. He will discuss practical results from a long term manure and compost project.
John Kemmeren, Dairyman, Angel Rose Dairy - ''Straight Talk and Crooked Rows. A lifetime of No-Till on a Dairy Farm.'' - This past year marked the 45th year No-Tilling. John will explain the challenges they face and the ways they handle manure from their 200 head dairy farm, along with their three year hay, corn crop rotation and using cover crops to keep the soils covered 365 days a year.
Aaron Ristow of the American Farmland Trust - Economic Impacts of Soil Health on New York Farms – Aaron will discuss his findings on the economic and environmental impacts of soil health practices.
Lynn Bliven, CCE Allegany County- Pasture Soil Compaction - Lynn will review indicators and remedies for soil compaction covering the impact grazing has on soil health.
