Allegany County Farmer Neighbor Dinner

You are cordially invited to attend the 6th Annual Allegany County Farmer Neighbor Dinner to be held Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Lake Lodge located at 6107 Terbury Road in Alfred Station.

The evening hosted by: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County; Soil & Water Conservation District; Natural Resource Conservation Service; Farm Service Agency; & Farm Bureau will begin at 5:30 pm with a Taste of Local Farms, Cash Bar and Agricultural Business Exhibits. A great opportunity to browse while engaging with members of the farming community.

You will experience a gourmet Farm to Table dinner showcasing locally grown and raised products exquisitely prepared by ACES Catering. Followed by our keynote speaker, Tony Shelton, PhD. International Professor of Entomology, Cornell University. The development of the first genetically engineered (GE) product in 1978 (insulin) relied on fundamental discoveries in basic biology. GE techniques are now commonly used to develop products for medicines, fuels, agriculture and other areas affecting our daily lives. This talk will provide an overview of genetic engineering and how it is being used in agriculture.

We hope you will consider joining us for the evening.

Sincerely,

Lynn A. Bliven Agriculture & Natural Resources Issue Leader
